Another day, another OPSEC breach

I can’t believe we’re here again, talking about yet another massive OPSEC failure from the Trump administration. This time, it’s Steve Witkoff, Trump’s so-called “special envoy” for the Ukraine war, who decided it was perfectly fine to let Kremlin-provided interpreters handle all the translation during his meetings with Vladimir Putin. Seriously? No American interpreter, no expert advisors, just Putin’s people running the show. It’s not just sloppy-it’s reckless and watching this administration treat OPSEC like an afterthought is infuriating.

When you’re negotiating with someone like Putin, you don’t just hand over control of the conversation to his team. You bring your own interpreter. You make sure every word is recorded accurately. You don’t trust the Kremlin to play fair or keep your secrets safe. Former U.S. Ambassador Michael McFaul even said this move put Witkoff “at a real disadvantage.” No kidding! Without a U.S. interpreter, we have zero idea what was actually said, and no way to verify the Russian version of events. That’s not just a rookie mistake-it’s a gift to the Kremlin.

And this isn’t the first time the Trump crowd has fumbled OPSEC. Remember Pete Hegseth’s public blunders? Or Tulsi Gabbard’s passwords being breached? It’s a pattern of carelessness that keeps putting our national security at risk. In Witkoff’s case, he didn’t even have secure communications on his plane, and there’s no proper record from these meetings. How are we supposed to trust any of this? How are our allies supposed to trust us? It’s a joke, and not a funny one.

Enough is enough. These aren’t harmless mistakes-they’re dangerous lapses that make America look weak and unprepared. OPSEC isn’t optional, especially when you’re dealing with adversaries like Russia. The Trump administration’s attitude toward security is a disgrace, and it’s putting all of us at risk. We deserve better from our leaders, and it’s about time we demand it.
